Make 2021 Your Year at Northwestern College

Last year was a challenge for everyone – us included. We’ve all been forced to take a step back from our lives as we knew them and face a new set of challenges. Between those challenges has been an abundance of self-reflection. Where am I in relation to my goals? What have I learned from 2020? Where do I want to be by the end of 2021? All difficult, yet healthy, questions to ask ourselves.

While much of our lives still hang in the balance of vaccine supply and distribution, many potential plans are put on hold – but your education doesn’t have to be one of them. Amidst the turmoil that COVID-19 has created, it’s also been a breeding ground for innovation and technological improvements. In the past, distance learning was considered a lesser option in higher education, but today it’s the standard. These very same challenges have led to improvements in virtual learning environments and a higher understanding of students’ needs.

One lesson that working professionals have learned this past year is the importance of essential work, with ‘essential’ being an entirely new term in this setting. Many of these jobs fall in the medical and healthcare fields, and the job outlook for careers like Nursing and Medical Assisting are projected to grow far faster than national averages. Is this the year you finally take your first steps towards a more fulfilling occupation?

At Northwestern College, student success is a priority. We’ve been offering online classes for years; when campuses were forced to shut down, directives at NC turned towards improving the distance-learning experience while many were trying to launch online programs for the first time.
