Financial Aid Shouldn’t be an Intimidating Process – We’re Here to Help

Financial aid comes in many shapes and sizes, and here at Northwestern College (NC), we have an entire in-house team dedicated to helping with your application. Whether you’re applying for a scholarship, grant, or student loan, every student’s journey at NC begins with a visit to the financial aid office – after all, paying for college is a different experience for everyone, so personalized assistance is key.

Variety of Resources

Student success is our number one priority, which extends to encouraging each student to explore a variety of paths with which they can finance their investment in education. In doing so, we participate in both the Federal Student Aid Program and Illinois State MAP Program, as well as additional funding options from sources like Veterans Programs, Federal Work Study, and FSEOG (Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant). Not only will we help you with any of these applications, but we also encourage students to contact the financial aid office with any financial aid questions throughout your education.

FAFSA Applications

The first step for all new students is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application. The deadline to apply for aid in the 2020-2021 school year is due June 30, 2021. This application will need to be updated and submitted annually but is available starting on October 1st for the following year – meaning the 2021-2022 FAFSA application is already available, and incoming students might as well complete it along with the 2020-2021 application.

Financial Aid Education

Many financial aid options require students to pay some or all of their educational award over time, and every student (along with his or her family) should have a firm understanding of the repayment terms and conditions. The experienced financial aid team at Northwestern College also provides entrance and exit counseling to help educate students on the processes of payment, taxes, and everything in between.
