Both the Bridgeview and Chicago campus libraries have graphing calculators available for use in the library. You just need to give your driver’s license or state ID to the library staff and you can use the calculators.
Computers and WiFi
The Bridgeview and Chicago campus libraries computers have the Oasis catalog, internet access, journal and research databases, and most have MS Office products. Printing from the computers is free and you use can use these computers anytime for research or personal use. Just remember to sign in first; we just want to keep track of how often the computers are used.
You can bring your own laptop or tablet into the library. We have free WiFi that you can access with your Student Hub login information.
The Bridgeview and Chicago campus libraries have copiers. Cost is 10 cents for black and white and 50 cents for color copies.
The Bridgeview and Chicago libraries have headphones available for use in the library. You just need to give your student ID to the library staff and you can use the headphones.
Bridgeview and Chicago both have study rooms, which can be used anytime either individually or with a group. Rooms can be reserved in advance if needed.
VCR and DVD players
The Bridgeview library has both DVD and VCR’s if you need to watch a tape or DVD for class.

How do I find books?
Go to the NC.edu library home page and type your search term in the box. Search for books by title, author, or subject.
What do I need to check out a book?
You need your current Northwestern College Student I.D. card.
How are books arranged on the shelves?
Books are shelved according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System. It’s a different way of organizing books by subject. Follow the signs or ask a librarian for help!
How do I look for an article?
The Library subscribes to full-text searchable databases. EBSCOhost, ProQuest and Issues and Controversies databases are available both in the Library and remotely. Remote access passwords are available in the Library or by emailing library staff at email@example.com.
How do I know which database to use?
Check for the handout, “Subject Guide to Online Databases”, in the Library and on the Student Hub website.
How long may I keep a book?
Most items are checked out for 3 weeks. Renew your books by phone if they are not overdue. Overdue fines are .10 per item.
Can you help me cite a source?
Use the Library’s MLA Works Cited Style Guide. Check with your instructor if you have any questions about citations in your research.
Does the Library have textbooks?
Instructors often place textbooks on the Reserve shelves. Check at the front desk or ask one of the staff members for a textbook. Your Student ID will be required.
Is the Library open on Saturday?
The Library is not open on Saturday’s.
Can I print from the computers in the Library?
Free printing is available from any computer in the Library. All computers have Internet access and Microsoft Office software
