UPDATES
November 24, 2021: HEERF check pick-up will begin on Monday, November 29 for those eligible students/graduates that met all HEERF deadlines and requirements, and whose applications were deemed successful (per Northwestern College HEERF III Policy & Procedures). Emails were sent on 11/23/21 to all recipients that checks will be printed for. A FORM was included in the email, which should be printed, filled out, signed, and brought to the Oak Lawn campus to present at the Student Accounts windows. Preparing this form before arriving at the Campus will help lessen wait time in line to pick up checks. Recipients that did not receive the 11/23 email with the corresponding form attached for their particular grant check should search both their school and personal emails, as well as the spam folders in each.
DATES FOR PICK-UP
Checks can be picked up at the Student Accounts windows between 10am and 3pm on November 29, 30 and December 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, and 16. Checks will not be mailed. Per NC’s HEERF III Policy & Procedures, checks not picked up by 3pm on December 16 will be forfeited.

An email was sent on 11/10/21 to eligible students/graduates that met all HEERF deadlines and requirements, and whose applications were deemed successful, per Northwestern College HEERF III Policy & Procedures. The email (11/10/21) notified successful HEERF recipients of the exact amount of their grants, and the specific dates set for check pick up. It further stated that: Due to an overwhelming response to HEERF III, we have had to push back the start of pick-up. So another week has been added, increasing pick up from 7 days to 12. Checks can be picked up at the Student Accounts windows between 10am to 3pm on November 29, 30 and December 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, and 16. Checks will not be mailed.
November 10, 2021
Pursuant to the NC HEERF III Policy & Procedures, eligible respondents/applicants for HEERF III emergency relief funds had 2 weeks from 10/25/21 (the date the email notifications were sent) to respond or apply. Following that deadline, on November 8, 2021, the total number of respondents under the EFC Group were tabulated. Applications submitted were reviewed and considered. Grant amounts were set according to pre-determined need (EFC number) or according to submissions identifying up to 12 potential Covid impact factors applicants identified. The $434,422 HEERF III fund was allocated and all persons awarded grants were notified via email on 11/10/21. (ADDITIONAL NOTE: Northwestern College itself is eligible for zero ($0) HEERF III funds – the entire $434,422 is for NC students/graduates only. Any excess funds not used will be returned to the US Department of Education pursuant to the ARP Act.)

September 20, 2021
Student emergency relief funds under the federal ARP Act recently became accessible. The College’s Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) Policy Committee has been established and is determining the process by which these funds will be dispersed to eligible students. Once the process has been finalized, eligible students will be contacted by email with further instructions.
March 25, 2021
NC applied for additional Higher Education Emergency Relief (HEERF II) funds that were approved in late December by the federal government and is also awaiting the federal application for HEERF III student funds approved March 11th. To date, the College has not received any HEERF II or HEERF III funds to disperse.
Once those HEERF funds are available, we will reach out to eligible students directly and provide guidance on how to claim them.
