Veterans Benefits and Other Programs

Benefits for Veterans

For information about VA educational benefits, please contact the VA at 1.888.442.4551 or visit the VA Educational Benefits webpage. Our financial aid advisors have been trained on military benefits but are by no means experts. Each service member’s history will be different, but for all service members, the required documentation is the Certificate of Eligibility and the DD214.

Northwestern College is approved for veterans training under the GI Bill® for Veterans Educational Assistance.

See our VA School Certifying Official for all requirements.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.

Federal Aid to Native Americans

Federal aid to Native Americans is available to students who are enrolled members of a federally recognized Indian Tribe, Alaska Natives, or ¼ degree Indian blood descendent of a federally recognized tribe. Most programs are based on financial need and the availability of funds. Eligibility is determined and administered by your tribe and may be awarded in successive years based on the student’s satisfactory academic progress. Information and applications are available from the education office of the tribe with which you are affiliated or possess membership. Information is also available from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Washington, D.C. 20245 or visit the Bureau of Indian Affairs website.
